Poppy was found staggering down a road one day by some friends about 2 years ago. When they stopped to try to help her she just kept on walking almost falling over trying to get away from them. They are convinced they only managed to catch her as she was so skinny, weak and hadn’t the energy to run. The vet told them she had only a day or 2 left to survive as she was so malnourished. She was literally found just in time and even then it was touch and go whether she would make it or not. Thankfully under the expert guidance of her foster carer’s she made a full recovery.

Poppy has stayed with her rescuers for the last 2 years and no one has even expressed an interest in adopting her and so they have asked us if we will help find for a home for Poppy.

Poppy was born approximately February 2016 and looks to be a Vizsler mix. She is a medium sized dog (21kg) with a rich red coat. She has white fur around her eyes and chin which makes her look older than she is bless her, but it’s her markings and nothing she can do about it. Maybe this is putting people off we don’t know as she is estimated to be about 4 years old. She looks a little chubby in the photo’s but her foster mum says her head has always been petite compared to her body and so the photo’s do not do her justice really.  Photo’s always make the dogs look bigger than they are even the pups. Poppy weighs just 21kg so a perfect medium size and sterilised. We can of course get more photo’s and video’s should anyone be interested in our dear Poppy.

Poppy is a very loyal and loving dog. Her ideal home will be with a cat or two as she is always curled up with them or the smaller dogs (Please see  photos and videos). Poppy is house trained and excellent on the lead. Sadly, even now with her foster parents who have had her two years, she is unable to be let off the lead as she will still run, why we do not know.  For some dogs the fear never leaves them, but in the home and garden she is more than happy and relaxed. We often wonder what these poor souls have escaped from and where was she trying to go that day when she was found? She must have known the end was near bless her. She would have probably just walked until she had dropped and died there.

Poppy needs a very loving and understanding home after what she has been through and no children under the age of 12 please. She is petrified of gun shots and thunder/lighting and will try to escape and run if she is outside in the garden. This is no big deal really, as it’s something a lot of dogs are scared of not just Poppy but dogs in general. Just with Poppy we already know.  Once brought in to the house though she is fine as long as the lights are on.

Poppy deserves that loving home doesn’t she? Can you help give her the home she quite rightly deserves? Please take a look at the photos of when she was first found. Quite upsetting to see her in that state but she is now fit and healthy.
